Larissa holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Massachusetts Boston and is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology at Tennessee State University. Her academic focus on gender dynamics, race, and sexuality deeply informs her therapeutic approach—centering empathy, empowerment, and the unique lived experiences of each client.
Larissa specializes in helping neurodivergent individuals and couples, as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community and People of Color. Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from relational cultural, psychodynamic, and family systems methods. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). In addition to her clinical work, she contributes to the academic understanding of neurodiverse-affirming mental health, having recently published a paper on neurodiverse couples counseling.
As a mixed-race Asian American and neurodivergent individual herself, Larissa brings both personal and professional insight to her practice, particularly in supporting clients who navigate the complexities of identity, culture, and mental health. She is passionate about research, having worked on diverse projects focusing on queer, Autistic adults, racial identity development, and the impact of purity culture in religious communities.
Outside of her work, Larissa loves reading, trying new restaurants, being with her family and many pets, and watching period dramas. She is proud to be an adoptive parent and a breast cancer survivor.
